IN-HOME RESPITE
The in-home visits are designed to give up to four hours of relief per week to a caregiver who is assisting a family member with a serious illness, dementia or frailness.
While the volunteer is in the home, a caregiver will receive and interval of rest and relief. The caregiver may choose to go shopping, visit with friends or family, attend a meeting, go for a walk, or do whatever is restful the them to relieve their stress. Taking a break from the stress of care giving is critical to the caregiver’s well-being. Both client and caregiver can benefit from these services.
In-home respite is provided by trained volunteers and is free of charge.
PHONE PALS
The phone pal program is a daily phone call to an individual who lives alone, and may be frail or elderly.
This program helps the client to live independently and stay in their own home for a longer period of time. A volunteer calls daily, usually at the same time each day to make sure that everything is okay, or simply give them someone to talk to. If, after an appropriate amount of time, there is no answer, a pre-selected responder goes to the home to check on the client. This provides the individual with the security that they have contact with someone who can react to their needs and allows them to live independently.
The phone pal program is provided by trained volunteers and is free of charge.

CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP
We facilitate the Alzheimer’s Association support group in Oconto County. This group includes families or caregivers whose loved one may have Alzheimer’s or dementia, but is also open to all caregivers of any type. This group gives the caregiver an outlet to express concerns, needs and their individual stories of being a caregiver.
The group meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 1:30 pm. They meet at The Caring Tree Adult Day Center.
This group is headed by trained staff and everything discussed is kept strictly confidential.
